Question:

Me and my mate Phil went swimming yesterday. To my amusement, and the horror/surprise/interest/shock of the other swimmers in the pool, several of my pierces showed up through my costume, and so we got onto the topic of body piercing… He wondered if it was possible to pierce your hand. I replied, "Yes, a handweb, but they migrate and get infected, and they’re not ususally very successful"..but he stopped me, and pointed out that he meant _hand_, as in the palm of the hand. I didn’t think it was possible, due to all the nerves, bones etc, plus the thickness of the piercing and the dnager of serious infection/nerve damage etc… He reckoned that a really anatomically educated piercer _could_ do it…. And then I wondered myself whether or not it might it possible to pierce through the wrist, as in, where Jesus was supposedly nailed to attach him to the cross.  I know from reading a few books about the turin shroud that there _is_ a space in the wrist where no major blood vessels, bones or nerve trunks lie, which is where the nails for crucifixion were put. If put here, they can hold the weight of a whole human body… (Which also got me wondering, perhaps a Masochist could get this done permanently, and then crucify themselves…very painful, extremely uncomfortable, as your lungs fill with fluid, very dangerous…but possible..[Note..I know bugger all about S + M, so this idea to me is on a par with sticking needles in your testicles, so please don't pick on me..pretty please...]) Would this cross over from the bodmod category into self-mutilation and serious wounding? Would it ever heal? Or is it just too risky to contemplate..? Just think, you could have a seasonal piercing for easter,,We could call it the crucifix or something…(Absolutely no offence meant here..I’m a left footer myself) And here’s the disclaimer..just my
