I haven’t been around until recently with my new grandson and my upcoming move – all good things. However, life has its peaks and valleys and I guess there were too many peaks. My 38 year old son, who has been on dialysis for over 10 years, had chest pains a few days ago. He drove himself to the hospital and had a cath today. He needs quintuple bypass surgery. I think it will be done either Wednesday or Thursday so back to PA to my daughter’s house. My eldest daughter has already arrived from Atlanta. I suppose the Austin and Chicago contingent will be in soon. So – while I’ve missed NA and was certainly enjoying his words of wisdom, I must take my leave to attend to family. I hope his most recent attack met whatever unmet need he had. — Pearl L

obviously i wish you and your son the best. it’s always very scary when everything seems to be going so well. one thing that’s so nice in your post is how your family flocks together to support one another. even with all the illnesses, that shines brightest! congratulations on having such a loving family–ya did something right–fer sure!! mel
Response:
Thanks for your kind words, Mel. When the six kids were young it was bedlam but thank G-d they are very close and supportive of eachother. With the original four losing their natural mother at 3 weeks, 19 months, 4 years and six years their lives have always been touched by illness. When I married their father and adopted them I was 21 and little did I know that the disease that took their mother would threathen the lives of the oldest boy and youngest girl. If I could have wished for anything however, it would be that they all would rise to the occasion and be there for eachother and they have. — Pearl L
